Hortencia F. “Hearty” Quintela
Hortencia F. “Hearty” Quintela, 86, of Texas City passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her residence. Hortencia was born September 27, 1929, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Baltarzar and Juanita Flores. Formerly of Groves, Texas, Hearty has been a resident of Texas City for 45 years. She was retired from Mainland Medical Center. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Society of Our lady of Guadalupe, and the Ladies Guild. Hearty enjoyed working with Food Pantry and with the Eucharistic Ministry. Hearty is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband: Zenon Quintela, Sr.; three sons: Zenon Quintela, Jr and wife Cynthia of Santa Fe, Steven Quintela of Texas City, and Mark Quintela of Round Rock; four sisters: Beatrice Rivera, Armandina De La Cruz, Alicia Pedraza, Emma Montalvo; two brothers: Jesus “Jesse” Flores and Richard Flores; two grandchildren: Alisha Stanley and husband Paul, Nathalie Williams and husband Edward; two great grandchildren: Mia Liv Stanley and Brayden Williams. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Sunday, June 19, 2016, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. A Rosary will follow at 7:00pm. Services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, June 20, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Father Chacko Puthumayil officiating. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Memorial may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, La Marque, TX.

It was a pleasure to have met and known your mom when I first moved here to La Marque and went to school with you all many years ago.
