Hugh Richard O’Donohoe Jr.
Hugh Richard O’Donohoe Jr., 86, of La Marque passed away on April 10, 2016 at his home. He was born in Galveston, Texas on January 9, 1930 to Hugh Richard Sr. and Evelyn O’Donohoe. He was the Fire Chief for 14 years in Galveston before his retirement. He gave many fire fighters lectures, taught at Galveston schools and Texas A & M University. Hugh was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church of La Marque, the Galveston Knights of Columbus, The Lions Club and various other organizations. Hugh was a Veteran in the US Navy serving in the Korean War on the USS Bataan (CVL-29). He loved to go fishing for redfish, playing bingo and was a very good bowler. Hugh was a kind, caring and generous person who loved his family, and his work as the Galveston Fire Chief. He always had compassion for his friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents Hugh O’Donohoe Sr., and Evelyn O’Donohoe, and his wife Georgia Ann O’Donohoe. Hugh is survived by his son Richard Kenneth O’Donohoe, daughter Peggy Sue O’Donohoe, his brother Raymond B. O’Donohoe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hugh was a good man and a credit to our society. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him; may his soul rest in peace. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday April 25, 2016 at 8:p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque with Father Chacko Puthumayil officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charities of one’s choice.
