Florence Louise Bozon Kemmerer
Florence Louise Bozon Kemmerer, 87, departed this earth on March 23, 2016. She will be forever remembered for her love of family, passion of learning, participation in local politics, extraordinary green thumb and ALWAYS having that spare Kleenex in her sleeve. Flo was the oldest of four girls born to Anton and Frances Bozon, and grew up in Houston, Texas. She attended San Jacinto High School, where she was a member of the civilian air patrol and studied meteorology, silhouette plane identification and other subjects. She married her high school sweetheart, Walter William Kemmerer, Jr, at the Little Church around the Corner in New York City, in 1952 and lived in Houston, Boston, France and Germany during their years together. She considered her greatest pride and accomplishment to be the Kemmerer Bunch – her family of three boys and three girls. Being a wife, mother, green thumb extraordinaire and Kleenex collector was just part of her remarkable life. She was also very involved in Galveston County politics as the first female elected official in Galveston County as a member of the City Council for League City, Texas from 1970 – 1973. She also served as Secretary of Concerned Citizens for Utility Regulations and as a member of the Galveston County Mayor’s Council and the Houston Galveston Area Council finance committees. After a career at the University of Houston, she retired from UTMB-Galveston. She is now reunited with parents Anton and Frances Bozon, husband Walter William Kemmerer, Jr, sister Angeline Bozon Fowler, and son Walter William Kemmerer, III. She will be greatly missed by her surviving sisters Bernice Bozon and Rosalie Null. Her children and their families that will remember her caring spirit, Carolyn and Damian DuBos, Kathey and William Krueger, Marianne and Randy Saint, Christopher Kemmerer and Jessica Barnes and Eric Kemmerer. As well as her daughter-in-law Sharon Kemmerer, grandchildren Steven Kemmerer, Chelsea Kemmerer, Colleen Kemmerer, Lauren Donahoo, Mallory Donahoo, Michelle Barrett, Elida Craven, John A. Reyes, II, Jessica Krueger, Sarah Krueger, great-grandchildren Colin Craven, Jackson Craven, Lillian Craven, Evelyn Craven, Mikayla Kemmerer, and Caylie Barrett. In honor of her amazing life, please donate in her name to the American Kidney Foundation.
I thought of the Bozons and Kemmerers often. Is there a Memorial Service ?
God Bless
