Florene Moorefield Dickson
Florene Moorefield Dickson, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on January 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madie Rhea Moorefield, and father, Andrew Wade Moorefield. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Roy L. Dickson Sr., her sister, Shirley Kelemen, and her children Cindy Dickson Henderson, Pam Dickson Zwolinski and Roy L. Dickson Jr. and wife Barbara, her grandchildren Stephanie Dickson Slavin and her husband Andy and Courtney Henderson, her great grandchildren Cameron and Connor Slavin, and her loving nieces and nephews, Terri and Carry Scott, Paula and Ric Holland, David and Leah Macaluso and Mark Macaluso.
Florene was born on September 10, 1928 in Alpine, Texas. The granddaughter and grand-niece of original Texas Rangers, she was blessed with an adventurous spirit. Her family moved to Galveston in 1940 and she graduated from Ball High School in 1945. She then attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing where she earned her degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse.
With a voracious appetite for learning, Florene undertook a variety of post graduate studies and remained a passionate reader of both secular and biblical literature until her death. She will be forever remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ and her dedication to living a loving life for her family and friends.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas, with Rev. Dennis Johns, officiating.
A reception at 3:00 pm to celebrate, Mom’s Life will follow at La Brisa Mexican Restaurant, 501 North Wesley Dr., League City, Texas.
Roy, Roy Lee, Pam, Cindy, and family, We will miss this sweet and lovely lady who has been such a part of our lives growing up. Always smiling and always cheerful, she was one of the kindest and sweetest. Please know that she and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.
