L.D. Ward
L.D. Ward, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was born in Fairview, Texas on October 2, 1921 to Leo and Robert Ward. L.D. fought in WWII as part of the United States Army Infantry and was a Paratrooper on the 101st Airborne earning a Campaign Medal with five bronze stars for his service overseas. Although he had been living in Deer Park, L.D. was a lifetime resident of La Marque. He was a lifetime member of La Marque Volunteer Fire Department, and a Charter member of both St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and La Marque Crime Stoppers. L.D was retired from Union Carbide after 32 years of service to the company.
L.D. is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Ethel Wakefield Ward, mother, father and sister. He is survived by three daughters; Vickie Stork and husband Jack of Hill Top Lake, Texas, Lynn Volkmann of Jersey Village, Texas, and Leslie Lester and husband Ralph of Pasadena, Texas, five grandchildren; James Stork and husband Joey Henry, Melissa Sabatino and husband George, Troy Volkmann and wife Carrie, Eric Volkmann and wife Jennifer, and Sheldon Lester, and eight great-grandchildren; Ryan Sabatino, Andrew Sabatino, Luke Sabatino, Colby Volkmann, Kendall Volkmann, John Pilant, Payton Volkmann, and Daniel Volkmann.
Visitation will be held at the James Crowder Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in La Marque, with Father Bob Moore officiating. Interment to follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers will be, James Stork, Joey Henry, Sheldon Lester, Troy Volkmann, Eric Volkmann, and George Sabatino with Ralph Lester as an Honorary Pallbearer.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Waterford at Deer Park and Hallmark Hospice.

I’m sorry to hear about your uncle. I was searching White pages for his number and found this. I live on South lawn circle next to LD for many years. I am heart broken. I moved far away but always thought about LD and all of his war stories. Man he had some good ones. 100% Real too every one of them . I will miss Mr Ward You guys have my condolences.
