James Meredith Elliott, 93 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 19. He was born on November 12, 1922 in Lomita, Texas to Beth and Alfred Elliott
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Mary; his son, James E. Elliott; his sisters, Doris Steffler (August), Mildred Beale (Bill); brother-in-law, Jimmy Rose. He is survived by his daughters ; Nancy Burke (Ron) and Sue Ann Elliott, daughter-in-law JoAnn Elliott Peterson (Phil); sister, Elizabeth Rose; brothers, John Elliott (Betty), Amos Elliott (Jackie), David Elliott(Mary Ann) ; grandchildren, Ben Elliott, Joey Elliott (Julie), Tammy Davidson (John) and Ronnie Burke, 8 great grandchildren; numerous relatives and dear friends
Jim served his country as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a journeyman pipefitter and lifetime member of Local 211. He was a charter member of Pine Drive Baptist Church and loved studying the scriptures. Although he was a man of few words, he had a heart of gold. He loved his family, gardening, tinkering with cars, big band music and traveling all over the world.
The family would like to thank Texas Home Health Hospice and Dr. Pavuluri for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank Mary Jane Ramirez for her loving care of our father.
