Joe Sheedy, Jr., 88, of La Marque, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015, in La Marque. Joe was born November 3, 1927, in Uvalde, Texas, to Joe and Bertha Sheedy. Joe retired after 32 years of working as an operator for Monsanto and Sterling. He was a veteran of United States Army, serving the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 8248 of La Marque. And was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 347 in Texas City. Joe was member of Highlands Baptist Church in La Marque. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Ann Sheedy; his parents; one son: Jesse John Sheedy; two sisters: Amy Ellen Sheedy and Bertha Doris Simmons. Joe is survived by one brother: Willie Charles Sheedy; three granddaughters: Sarah Elizabeth Sheedy, Lindsey Rebecca Sheedy, and Catherine Susann Sheedy; one grandson: Matthew Joseph Sheedy. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, in Hitchcock, Texas, with Arlen Woody officiating. Interment will follow the service.
