Ernest Garza, Jr., 80, of Texas City, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2015. He was born in Galveston, Texas on January 20, 1935 to Maria and Ernest Garza, Sr. Ernest was a good man who loved his family; he will be dearly missed. Ernest is preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters; Minerva Medina and Olga Vasquez, brother; Roger Garza, mother-in-law and father-in-law; Helen and Walter H. Bolton, brothers in-law; Eugene Nelson, Frank Ortiz, Honerato Medina, Jr., Walter C. Bolton and Fredrick W. Bolton, Sr. and sisters-in-law LeVerne Bolton and Juanita Bolton. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Bolton Garza, one daughter; Sandra Ely and husband Ken of Austin, two sons; Brian Garza of Texas City and Kenneth Garza, Sr. and wife Paula of League City, sisters; Aurora Nelson and Blanche Ortiz, brother; Arthur Garza and wife Joyce, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Charles Vasquez, Donald M. Bolton, Sr., Jo Jo Bolton and his wife Marie, James G. Bolton, Sr., Richard G. Bolton, Sr., and his wife Phyllis, Mary Bolton, and Kay Lohec and her husband Phil, five grandchildren; Miranda Ely, Kyra Ely, Alana Ely, Kenneth Garza, Jr., and Mason Garza and many nieces and nephews. I’m so sorry for Gloria and his family. I knew Mr. Garza from Weiner’s in Dickinson. I worked for him. He was always fair and kind. It was a pleasure to have known and worked for him.
Rest in Peace Mr. Garza, and blessings to the family. Mr. Garza hired me to work in the men’s department at Weiner’s in Galveston.
Dear Gloria: I was so sorry to hear/read about Ernest’s passing. My prayers are with you & your family. From what you have told me in the past about his health issues, God has welcomed him with loving arms to be free of suffering. Take care.
I knew Ernest for “next to ever.” I first met him when I worked at Moody National Bank in the very early ’60s, and he would bring the Ace Tailors’ deposit in, and then for years thereafter I frequently stopped in the tailor shop to kibitz, so I’d see him then. Ernest was one of God’s good guys.
His trademark was his smile, so I was really pleased to see him smiling in the picture used for his obituary. Rest in peace, Ernest. No question that your gentleness will be missed by your family and all who knew you.
