Elma Lane Dupree, 79, of Clear Lake passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was born June 30, 1936 in Sexton, Texas to Fonzie Lane and Edna (Singleton) Lane. She was the eldest of five children.  Elma joined the Bell Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and was raised in the Southern Baptist faith. She made the decision to convert to Roman Catholicism after the visit from a female cousin in law. Even though Elma only spoke English and the cousin only spoke French, they were able to bond through prayer. She was not able to finalize her conversion until many years later.  Elma Lane married Leon Dupree in Sabine County, Texas on January 5, 1952. She is survived by her daughter Kathy L. Dupree of Clear Lake, Texas, brother Travis Lane of San Augustine, Texas, sister Lera Price (Jeff) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a host of relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Dupree (19281992), her two sons Roy Gean Dupree (1952 2007) and Curtis Paul Dupree (1956 1981), two brothers Jerry Lane and Lonnie Lane, and her parents.

A Mass will be held at 10am, Monday, October 26 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Dr., Nassau Bay, 77058.  Elma was laid to rest in the Forest Park East Cemetery.

  4. I just heard about Elma’s passing and I wanted to send my condolences to Kathy. I never got to meet “Mama”, but I loved to hear Kathy’s stories about online shoe buying and all the fun Mama brought to her life. I know she will be missed, and I hope to finally meet her when we all get to heaven.
