Ronald Raymond Ray

Ronald Raymond Ray, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Park Manor of South Belt, with Hospice Compassus, at the age of 82.

Ron was born on February 11, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Franklin and Alta (Deziley) Ray. He was a graduate of Holy Family Catholic High School, Class of 1951. At the age of 20, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in Korea. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman First Class.

Ron married the love of his life, Theresa Menzel on August 26, 1961 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Zilwaukee, Michigan. He had a 40 year career with Baker Perkins, headquartered in Saginaw. In 1978, the family was transferred to Houston, Texas and settled in Clear Lake, where Ron worked as a salesman until his retirement from Baker Perkins in 1991. Never one to slow down, Ron then went to work for Kaneka Texas in Pasadena in the purchasing department.

After fully retiring in 1996, Ron dedicated his time and talent by volunteering at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. He also attended daily mass. Ron loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, golfing and watching all kinds of sporting events.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, son, Richard, daughter, Julie, granddaughter, Amber, sisters-in-law, Delores Ray and Betty Ray, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Marie, son, David Michael, six brothers and three sisters.

Visiting will be at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare of Assisi on Thursday at 10:00am.  A reception will be held in the Parish Hall immediately after Mass.  Interment will be at 2:15pm at Houston National Cemetery. Ron will be laid to rest with Military Honors.

  5. Sorry for your loss. I got to know Ron back when he was a member of the K of C #6234, the Clear Lake Council (we met at Saint Paul in Nassau Bay).
    Ron was a strong advocate for Life. He now is the recipient of Everlasting Life with our Lord.
