Maybell Agnes Rogers (Deen) Walker
Mrs. Maybell Agnes Rogers (Deen) Walker entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 11, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Maybell was born June 8, 1928 in Galveston to John J. (Scanlon) Rogers Sr. originally from Waterbury, Conn. and Maybell Agnes Pinto Rogers of Galveston, Texas.
She is proceded in death by her parents, siblings, first husband Richard Thomas Deen, second husband Lester Charles Walker Sr., as well as her oldest son Donald Wayne Deen.
Maybell was the last surviving sibling of her immediate family, which included her beloved sister Della Mae Blackburn and her loving brothers John Anthony Rogers, Edward Rogers Sr., Fredrick Rogers Sr., John J. Rogers Jr., William & his twin Anthony Rogers, George Rogers and their spouses.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn & husband Vincent Veiga of League City, Angela & husband Nick Habibi of League City, Lester C. Walker Jr. & wife Sandy of Fort Bend County and Theresa & husband Gerald Peters of Santa Fe.
Maybell known as MeMaw, MawMaw and MeMe, is the grandmother of 12, the great-grandmother of 14 children and the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Maybell was one of the first women in 1959 to be chosen for the position of “Meter Maid”, Galveston. She was also an employee of Saint Mary’s Catholic School cafeteria, but is best known for being a wonderful homemaker and a loving person.
After her love for her family, friends and pets, Maybell enjoyed cooking her famous spaghetti dish, gardening, dancing, music, dressing up at Halloween, making Christmas and all other holidays memorable. She was a practicing Catholic and an avid supporter of St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
She will be deeply missed for her contagious smile and the joy she brought to so many people.
We would like to thank the many friends she made along the last part of her journey and will forever cherish their friendship.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children or to Alzheimer’s research.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM with a Vigil service at 7:00PM at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 10:00AM at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque with Father Chacko Puthumayil officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
