Janie R. Gates, 71 of Coldsprings, Texas passed away on March 24, 2015 at Memorial Herman N.E. She was born August 25, 1943 in Jacksonville, Texas to Dalta and Ruth Dennis. Janie was formerly from Texas City, Texas.
She loved her church and loved singing in the choir at the Point Blank Community Church in Point Blank, Texas. She worked at the Texas City High School.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her daughters Charlie Taylor, sister Ruth Fay Dennis Youngblood and brother George Dennis.
Janie is survived by her husband John Gates, Sr.; her daughters Rosemary Rush and husband Stephen, Linda Taylor, Diana Siewert and husband Elwood; son John Gates, Jr. and wife Kristen and step-son Ronnie Gates and wife Darlene; her sisters Eva Barton Newson, Nancy Barton Wilson and husband Calvin and her brothers Luke Barton and wife Janna, John J. Dennis, James Barton and Dalta Dennis and wife Nancy; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 4:00pm ~ 7:00pm at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral Service will be at 10:00am on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Mc Brayer officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
