Anna Rose Ross
Anna Rose Ross, 86, of Hitchcock, went home to be with her Heavenly Father and loved ones who passed before her, on March 23, 2015 in League City, Texas. She was born on March 30, 1928 to Harry and Anna Ray Lawrence, but was raised by her aunt and uncle, Tony and Leona Smith in Galveston, Texas.
Anna Rose (Annie) graduated from Ball High School in 1945 and married the love of her life, Lloyd Ross, on September 24, 1949 in Galveston. They moved to Hitchcock in 1951. Annie worked at the Corp of Engineers in Galveston and later as a secretary in Hitchcock ISD. Anna Rose is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Ross, her brothers, Robert Lawrence, Paul Lawrence, Patrick Lawrence and her sisters, Marie Sorrells, Donna Malain and Margie O’Leary.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Peggy Ross of Hitchcock and Diane “Bow” Hubbell, (Mike) of Santa Fe, and lifelong friends LaVaughn Demetrios Luker (Nassau Bay), Betty Kelso Schroeder (Galveston), Vera O’Meara Fowlkes (Fort Worth), and many family and friends.
Annie cherished her grandchildren, Bradley Hubbell (Lori) of Santa Fe, Matt Hubbell (Lauren) of San Antonio, Melissa Hubbell Womack (Randy) of Missouri City and her great-grandchildren, Nicole Michele Hubbell (Brad/Lori) and Landon Tate Hubbell (Matt/Lauren) and was happiest when spoiling them.
She enjoyed sports, traveling, spending time with family and friends and attending anything her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson with a rosary being held at 7:00 p.m. Monsignor Dan Malain, her nephew, will celebrate a funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock followed by lunch at Our Lady of Lourdes Madonna Hall.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Dr. John Malain, Larry Andrews, Harry Lawrence, Paul Robert Lawrence, Harold Malain, grandsons Brad Hubbell and Matt Hubbell and grandson in-law Randy Womack. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom was very special to me and I always enjoyed visiting with her. I will always remember my last visit with her, she had a knack for bringing a smile to my face and she certainly did that day. She holds a special place in my heart! A beautiful lady who truly loved her children and grandchildren. Am sure she will be sorely missed. It was such a pleasure to know her and her family. My love and prayers to you all.
