Colene Louise Cox
Colene Louise Cox
July 27, 1930 – March 14, 2025
Colene Louise Cox, 94, of League City, TX, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025. She was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on July 27, 1930, to Abner and Stella Turner.
Colene was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who embraced life with a spirit of adventure. She found joy in snow skiing in Colorado, exploring the Rocky Mountains of Keystone, the Swiss Alps, Europe, and Hawaii. She loved the thrill of a good card game and never shied away from a little gambling fun.
A creative soul, Colene had a natural eye for beauty and design. She channeled that creativity into The Green Patch, the floral shop she owned with her daughter Jan, where she found joy in arranging stunning floral designs. She also had a talent for sewing and lovingly made clothes for her daughters throughout their childhood.
Above all, family was at the heart of everything she did. No matter how far she traveled, if a loved one was even remotely nearby, she wouldn’t hesitate to take a four-hour detour just to visit—because for Colene, time was never wasted when it was spent with the people she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon Cox, and her sister Helene Faver.
She is survived by her two daughters and their families:
– Joy Miller and her children:
– Regina and husband Cody Ginsel (Huntsville, TX)
– Amanda and husband Joe Chapman (Burleson, TX)
– Danny and wife Debbie Smothermon (League City, TX)
– Jan Howard and her husband Jack Howard (League City, TX), and their children:
– Lacy M. Howard
– Jaclyn L. McLaughlin and husband Joshua McLaughlin
She is also survived by her brother, Wesley Turner, and his wife Helen Turner, along with their children, Rusty, Cristy, and Robbie Turner (baton rouge, LA).
Her great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy, include:
