Salvador “Sal” Di Giorgio

Salvador “Sal” Di Giorgio, of Houston, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Sugar Land, Texas, at the age of 82. He was born on September 15, 1942, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Salvatore and Maria Ignacia Di Giorgio.

Sal had a lifelong passion for automobiles. In the mid-1960s, he moved his family from Argentina to Connecticut, where he opened a repair shop that quickly gained a reputation for quality work. His expertise was recognized when he became certified to work on Bugatti sports cars. It was at this shop that Sal had the opportunity to work on the cars of actor Paul Newman.

After a brief return to Buenos Aires, Sal and his family left due to political and economic instability, finding a new home in Kingwood, Texas. There, Sal raised his family and opened Sal’s Imported Cars, where he worked until his retirement. Because of his strong work ethic and astute business practice Sal was able to provide opportunities to his children that he never had.

Sal is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Sergio; his former wife, Beatriz Di Giorgio; and his brothers, Antonio and Frank.

He is survived by his daughter Carina Di Giorgio Shannon and husband Michael, and many other loving family and friends.

A graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007, with Deacon Russ Carroll presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America at www.dementiasociety.org.
