Maure Andree Hoarau

Maure Andre Hoarau (née Mondon), age 93, of Seabrook, Texas, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was born on November 30, 1931, in Mahé, Seychelles, to Louis and Lia (Michel) Mondon.

In 1949, at the age of 18, Maure began her career in nursing. That same year, she earned her First Aid and Red Cross certificates, both signed by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. After furthering her education, she received her nursing certificate in 1950. As a district nurse, she traveled door-to-door, dedicating her life to caring for others. Her compassionate service made her a well-respected and beloved figure in the Seychelles.

After retiring in 1974 at the age of 50, Maure opened a small corner shop in her neighborhood, where she worked tirelessly to build a successful business. In 1983, she moved to the United States to be closer to her family. She continued her passion for caregiving by working at a nursing facility until she retired.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In her later years, Maure found joy in cross-stitching, sewing, and cherishing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, she will be remembered for her sharp wit, playful humor, and the warmth she brought to every moment. Her legacy of love, strength, and laughter lives on in the countless lives she touched.

Maure was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lia Mondon; her beloved husband of 57 years, Gael Hoarau; two sons, Guynemer Hoarau and Gustave Hoarau; four brothers; five sisters; her son-in-law, Brian Johnson; and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children: Patricia (Bob) Baron, Georgette (Percy) Shroff, Gitanne Johnson, Gavin (Wei) Hoarau, Gilbette (Ruben) Zavala, Henry (Loreena) Hoarau, Leonard (Janet) Hoarau, Rose Marie (Scott) Barton, Dominique (Jeannie) Hoarau, and Veronique (Bill) Watkins; her daughter-in-law, Norma Hoarau; 31 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil to start at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2025 at Crowder funeral Home, 1645 East Main Street in League City, Texas. She so sweet. May you all find peace that she’s in heaven now but her sweet memories will be with you always.
