Lucille Ochoa Manifold
Lucille Ochoa Manifold, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at her home in Lake Jackson, surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born on September 18, 1939, in Wharton, Texas, to Joe and Olivia “Lily” (Alderete) Ochoa. She spent much of her early life in Galveston, Texas, alongside her 7 siblings. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman, holding various roles in the hospitality and service industry. It was in Galveston where she also embraced her most cherished role – being a mother to her four beloved children. In October of 1976, she married Robert “Bob” Manifold, and together they built a life in Texas City, where they resided for over 40 years. They remained devoted to one another until Robert’s passing in 2019.
In her youth, Lucille had a passion for dancing and entered many dance contests, often taking home the prize. She was a faithful lifetime member of St. Mary’s of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Above all, Lucille had a tremendous love for her family. She was known for her giving and caring nature, always opening her home and offering a warm meal to anyone, no matter the hour. She also spent many years as a devoted caregiver to her mother.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Rudy, Pete, and Joe Ochoa; and husband Robert “Bob” Manifold. She is survived by her brothers Johnny (Lissa) and Adam Ochoa; sisters Delores “Tiny” Benavidez and Mary Apolinar; her children Diane (Phillip) Christensen, Monique (Joe) Gordin, Anthony Perez, and William “Billy” (Stacey) O’Donnell; and grandchildren Bridget (Chris) West, Melissa (Michael) Allred, Bobby (Ruby) Miller, Kara Hooker, Cameron O’Donnell, Derek Miller, and Hannah O’Donnell. She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Lucille’s kindness, generosity, and love for her family will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be from 2:00pm-5:00pm with the Vigil at 4:00pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. A funeral service will be at 10:30am on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr James Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
