In Memory of David Paul Liening and Dianna Marie Gregory Liening

David Paul Liening, 64, and Dianna Marie Gregory Liening, 67, of Texas City, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2025.

David was the oldest son of Harry Richard Liening and Emma Estell Siems Liening born October 12, 1960 and the eldest brother of Richard(Richie) Liening and spouse Cindy Liening, and Rhonda Liening along with closest family friend Rosina Cobbs.  David is predeceased in death by his mother Emma Liening and his brother Richard Liening.

Dianna was one of 7 children of A.C. Gregory and Susie Drewsella Churchill Gregory born March 8, 1957 and sibling of A.C. (Curley) Gregory, William (Bully) Gregory, Sherry Whitehead and spouse Vernon Whitehead, Karen Baker, Rhonda(Kayda) Parker and spouse John Parker, Wanda Osteen, 2 neices, 4 nephews and their children.  Dianna is predeceased in death by her mother Susie Gregory, father A.C. Gregory, and brother Curley Gregory.

Dianna comes from a family of shrimpers out of Texas City, who in their free time enjoyed spending time together at their family river house in Trinity. One story that gets brought up is when Dianna took just the girls perch jerkin in Bear Creek and asked if they saw anything to which they all said no which led to her hitting a tree and a snake falling into the boat with them. They also enjoyed taking trips to Garner State Park. David was also a shrimper out of Texas City which is what led David and Dianna to meet each other, due to David selling bait to Anita’s bait camp where Dianna worked.

David enjoyed the outdoors with his family and friends including hunting and fishing.  It wasn’t uncommon for David to be associated with comical wildlife adventures like having geese piled up on the side of the freeway, filling a garbage can full of crawdads out of the ditch, an armadillo in a bathtub, transporting a raccoon in the trunk that happened to be still alive, skinning a deer in the front yard, unexpected aligator encounters while fishing, and most recently a 100 pound wild pig inside the chicken coop. To which the chicken coop itself was also an unexpected venture due to him finding a black hen at a Taco Bell while on his way to the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo. Dianna was known to be the getaway driver for his antics. She also was the one to clean and cook whatever animal came back for dinner that night whether that was a good buck, or a nice haul of fresh fish he caught while he was out trottlining with whoever he could get in the boat with him.

David and Dianna gave many young individuals a safe place to be and shared their knowledge of carpentry, hunting, fishing, and other life skills, and trades. One of David’s specialties was hog hunting with his beloved dogs. David would take them hunting and Dianna would spoil them. They where very well known to the community as David and Dianna but never one without the other.

The only thing David and Dianna loved more than the outdoors was their children and grandchildren. Combined they had 4 beautiful daughters, and a whopping 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Their grandbabies knew when they walked through their door they were in for a treat, whether it was fruit snacks, cookies, Little Debbie cakes, or ice cream nobody was able to tell them no at “mawmaw and pawpaw’s” house.  They enjoyed sharing their love of the outdoors with their children and grandchildren, if you jumped in the truck with them you never knew where you were headed or when you would be back but you can believe they had a great time and made so many unbelievable memories.  Many family members enjoyed Dianna’s cooking especially the pies made from scratch; choclate, coconut cream, and lemon meringue.  Some of David’s favorites dishes early on in their relationship were fried pork chops, drop biscuits, and pancakes from scratch.

Survived by their children Jennifer Yarbrough and spouse Anthony Yarbrough Sr., Amanda Liening, Jennifer(Jenny) Rahman and spouse Kyle Rahman, and Cheryl Borsellino and spouse Chuck Borsellino.  Grandchildren Rebecca, Ashley, Tristin, Tobias, Phoenix, Autumn, Isabelle, Anthony Jr, Aubrie, Aiden, Tripp, and Natalie.  Great-grandchildren Ansley and Liam.

Services will be held at Crowder Funeral Home located at 401 Texas Ave, La Marque, TX 77568 on February 13, 2025 visitation at 5:00 pm and memorial service at 6:00 pm.
