Heriberto Leal

Heriberto Leal, a resident of Dickinson, Texas passed from this life peacefully at the age of 79 on January 19, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Known to many as Eddie, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was born September 3, 1945 in Alamo, Texas to parents, Ricardo Leal Sr. and Maria (Flores) Leal.

Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. After being honorably discharged, he began his career as a chemical operator in the petrochemical industry in Texas City at Union Carbide and would later retire from Dow Chemical. After a brief retirement, he decided to go back to work, this time in a laboratory where he would collect samples as a Laboratory Retain Technician for Bureau Veritas.

Eddie loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. In his free time, you could find him watching his favorite western movies, listening to his Tejano music, or watching the Houston Astros with a cold beer. If you were lucky enough, sometimes you would see him sitting in the back room of Benito’s Mexican Restaurant in La Marque enjoying his wife’s enchiladas. As part owner of the restaurant, he loved coming by to see how the business was thriving and seeing familiar faces of customers who had become like family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Walter Andino, Sr. and brothers, Richardo Leal Jr. and Abel Leal Sr.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his loving wife of 40 wonderful years, Cruz Leal; daughters, Erica Hanssard (Justin) and Martha Andino; sons, Geovani Andino (Karol) and William Andino; two sisters, Ruth Zapata and Noelia Leal; two brothers, Moses Leal and Benny Leal; ten grandchildren, Aiden Hanssard, Lincoln Hanssard, Waldo Velez, Wilmer Velez, Wilfredo Velez, Jr., Vanessa Andino, Walter Andino, Jr., Brandon Andino, Nathly Andino, Sebastian Rendon, fifteen great grandchildren, as well as numerous family and friends.

Eddie was a hardworking individual who would give you the shirt off his back. He gave everything for his family and will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Ashlee Velez and America Saray Galindo, who never left Eddie’s side during this difficult time. Thank you for all the care, kindness, compassion and support you provided. You both went above and beyond what anyone could have ever asked.

In his honor, relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas followed by a rosary at 7:00pm.  The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12:00pm, also at Crowder Funeral Home. Interment will be on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Houston National Cemetery
