James “J.C.” Brown
James “J.C.” Clark Brown, 87, of Alvin passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 20, 1927 in Barfield, Alabama to William L. and Katie Brown.
J.C. was a veteran serving in the US Army during WWII; he was a carpenter in Local 973/526 for 52 years; a member of I.O.O. F. Lodge in TC for 67 years, he was a member of the R.E.A.C.T.; volunteer for the Galveston County Sheriff Department Marine Division, and a member of the Can Do Search and Rescue.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 63 years Marilyn Brown.
J.C. is survived by his daughters Peggy Halstead and Debra Hendley (Wayne) and sons David Brown (Betty) and Larry Brown (Diane); thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2015 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral Service will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas with Dr. R.L. Calhoun officiating.

J.C was my friend thru my whole career of thirty one years with Texas City Police department He was always friendly and always tried to help the public or emergency services everywhere he was. He was a a good Man . I couldn’t Attend his funeral but May he
Rest in Peace he helped so many people he must have a special place in Heaven. My Condolences to the family.

To the family of James Brown ;
With deep remorse I just read of J. C’s passing. James had just started comming to the Galveston County Senior Citizen,s club on 27th Street & Hwy. 6,, in Dickinson Texas. He was a gentleman in every way; every day; He had to sit really close to the television. Then when he got more familiar and seen familiar faces he’d sit with some of the men & talk. He happened to mention to me that the lady who brought him did so on her way to a computer class at the library.
We have coffee or water and sometime a cookie and watch t..v.or talk , some play games some read & work puzzles; just various different ways to pass the time. Then we have a short exercise program then at 11:30 we have lunch. After lunch there may be a short trip to a store then back to the center where the bus takes us home. It is a great place for seniors as I am and as James was.
May his soul rest in everlasting peace. May his family know he was among friends here; know we appreciated his prescence however brief for us it was.
When I first met him ; I tried to be “funny”, and made a little ditty up; “james Brown went to town with his britches hangin’ down,,” I just laughed, and laughed. Then I seen James wasn’t laughing. I realized he couldn’t hear, I really felt bad, as I wear a hearing aid..by the grace of God as my hearing ”drops’
Every so often and I was fortunate enough to have Beltone “tweek” it.
