Larry L. Goux
Larry L. Goux (87) aka Daddy, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, just days after his 87th birthday. He was born in Bunkie, Avoyelles, Louisiana, to Alfred and Gladys Goux on December 19, 1937. He attended Bunkie High School where he enrolled in the National Guard for his junior and senior years. During his school years, he was an honorable Boy Scout. After graduation, he attended LSU where he served in the ROTC during his first two years of college. He was offered a position with LSU Administrative Office and returned to Baton Rouge where he would spend the next 35 years. Larry and Toni had the pleasure of raising three girls, Hypatia G. LaCour, Melissa G. Durham and Tina G. Spruell. In 1974, Larry started working with the State of Louisiana Board of Regents. He as nicknamed “Goux Roux” where he made multiple contributions to the Louisiana higher education system and finally retired for a second time in 1996. Larry married Cynthia Eames in 1998 and moved to Dickinson, Texas where he has lived the past 26 years. During this time, he taught mathematics at the College of the Mainland and he and Cindy traveled extensively in their earlier days and made many memories. Quick with numbers and advice Daddy’s body finally gave way, and his body succumbed to permanent rest. He will be remembered by the “logarithm t-shirts” he wore and the advice he gave on playing chess and “life”.
