Patricia Sue Cannon, 81, of La Marque, Texas gained her wings on January 1, 2025 in Freer, Texas.  She was born on April 3, 1943 to Keet and Alice Fox in Luling, Texas and was raised in Bruni, Texas.  She was a country girl at heart and was happiest at home having adventures with her brother and sister. She was a star basketball player and still holds the record of scoring 56 points in one game and with her jump shots continued whooping her children’s butts. Through all her awards and accomplishments, she was always humble and kind. After graduating from Business College in San Antonio, she married her high school sweetheart. Pat faithfully followed her husband, children, and grandchildren through their sporting endeavors, as well as her beloved Astros and Rockets. When asked, she always said that all she wanted in life was to be a mom, but to her family, friends, and co-workers she was so much more.  Her genuine soul and nurturing ways drew everyone to her for a little bit of love, a hug, or a listening ear.  She was not only our mom; she became mom to all of our friends and others that adopted her. Mom could do it all, from taking shorthand to popping off the bank on a water ski and ending with her bouffant hairdo still intact. She loved her plants, crafting, her coloring books and any adventure with family and friends. Her vast vocabulary made her the queen of scrabble and crossword puzzles. Her love of reading endless books, got her locked in the public library at closing, requiring her to scale the front desk to call dad for help.  With some police assistance, she was rescued hours later.  It wasn’t being locked in the library that got her upset; it was not being able to check-out her books. Some of her fondest memories were traveling with her friends around the country and playing slot machines with family. She was a wonderful storyteller, if she could get a word in edgewise…with this family.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Cannon, her parents and sister, Carolyn Lillie. Patricia is survived by her children; Cindy Freeman (Buddy), Danny Cannon (Corie), Nicole Gomez (Robert), Kyle Cannon, brother, Rodney Fox (Dinah), eight grandchildren; Casey Freeman, Randi Salinas, Erin Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez, Cole Cannon, Dallis Cannon, Chase Cannon and Caden Cannon, and 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 3:00-6:00pm. A prayer service, with eulogy, and an opportunity for anyone to speak about mom will begin at 5:00pm.
