Doreen Chow Achuff

Doreen Chow Achuff, affectionately known as Mrs. Swizzle, fashionista, renowned chef, and our gift from God, escaped this mortal realm on Friday, May 17, 2024, in League City, TX. Born in Bakersfield, California on April 24th, 1942, to Phil and Thelma Chow. We think she did this on purpose to avoid having to make a decision in the pending presidential election.

Doreen was the co-owner of Swizzle in Texas City, and loved her patrons dearly for over 30 years. She loved root beer floats, spending time spoiling her grand and great grandchild and made sure that everyone she came in contact with knew they were loved. She left behind a hell of a lot of stuff to her granddaughter and great grandson who have no idea what to do with it.

So if you’re looking for 2 extremely large TV’s from the 90s, a large ceramic stork (we think) umbrella/cane stand, a toaster oven (slightly used) or even a 2001 minivan with a spoiler (she loved putting the pedal to the metal granny style), with only 71,000 kilometers and 1,000 tools and many odd trinkets that we aren’t sure what they’re used for, you should wait the appropriate amount of time and get in touch.  Tomorrow would be fine.

This is not an ad for a pawn shop, but an obituary for an exquisitely wonderful and loving Woman, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of. Doreen is preceded in death by her parents and husband Dave (Mr. Swizzle).  She is survived by her beautiful, intelligent, and extremely perfect granddaughter Brittany Schneider, her exceptionally talented grandson Bentley Villarreal (remember his name for future MBL reference), and daughter Deanna Larsen who is great at__________.

She will be missed greatly as she truly was the most wonderful woman who was always full of love and great jokes.

Tremendous heartfelt thanks go to Chastey Phifer, Lashawn Hollier, and Sherri Osborn who were truly compassionate and exceptional caregivers who provided much more than just comfort for Doreen, but also provided a sense of humor, peace and tranquility until her transition from this life into the next.

Many thanks also to the wonderful staff at UTMB League City Campus ONLY!!

Cremation will take place at the family’s convenience, and her ashes will be kept around as long as they match the décor.
