Charles Frederick Head
Charles Frederick Head passed into eternal life on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 77. Charlie was born January 23, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia to Mary Evelyn Head and O.S. Head, Jr. He was raised in Jackson, Mississippi and lived in Baton Rouge and Shreveport, Louisiana and then finally resided in Kemah, Texas for his last 28 years. Charlie was a caring, passionate, and dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Charlie graduated from Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi in 1965. It is here that he met the love of his life, Gail Patricia Welborn. On December 30, 1967, Gail and Charlie were married in Ridgecrest Baptist Church. They later welcomed children Christy and Scott.
His career with Ashland Chemical spanned over 30 years and his promotions provided the opportunity to live in multiple cities. Along the way, Charlie developed many wonderful relationships and friendships. In 2000, Charlie, along with Gail, started their own chemical distribution company, Headway Enterprises LLC. It was an extremely successful company that allowed Charlie to continue providing exceptional customer care with honesty and integrity while allowing him the freedom to spend more time with family and transition into his new role of “Boppy” with the birth of his granddaughter in 2004.
At a young age, Charlie developed a love for the outdoors. As an avid hunter and golfer, he frequently spent time with family and friends on many adventures. He would proudly tell you he played 314 different golf courses. While he hadn’t played in several years, he continued to enjoy riding along on many additional courses telling others how to improve their game.
Charlie was a proud member of the Fraternity of Shriners International and the Scottish Rite Fraternity of Freemasonry.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Gail Welborn Head; his children Christy Lovoi and her husband John, Scott Head and his wife Carrie; and his granddaughters Jordan Lovoi and Michaela Smith.
A private memorial service will be held for family in celebration of Charlie’s life and legacy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Hearing Institute or the Shriners Hospital.
