Geoffrey Neil Beason
Geoffrey Neil Beason passed away October 11th. He was 94 years of age. Known to family and friends as “Jock”, he was born in Whitney, Alabama, and graduated from Etowah High School in 1947.
Jock proudly served in the US Army, from April 1951 through March 1953, as a corpsman driving an ambulance while stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. After working over 48 years for Union Carbide at the Texas City, Texas, plant, he retired in the summer of 1997, where he was a chemical operator and Chair of the plant’s Emergency Preparedness and Hurricane Committees. After retiring, he served as an active volunteer and a Docent at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, TX.
Several years following the death of his wife, Audrey Loretta Myers Beason, he moved to Southside, AL, and married his high school sweetheart, Wynell Colegrove Whitt, in June 2005. After her passing in 2023, he moved to Shreveport to be closer to his grandchildren until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his only child, Alan Beason of Shreveport, LA; his brother, Gerald Beason, of Texas City, TX; his first wife, Audrey Loretta Myers Beason; his second wife Wynell Colegrove Beason; Wynell’s son “Mel” Colegrove and his parents Finis and Louise Beason of Steele, AL.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Beason of Shreveport, LA; his grandsons Gregory Beason, and spouse, Kelli, and his great granddaughter, Aspen, of Temple, TX; and Christopher Beason of Shreveport, LA. He is also survived by Wynell’s sons and family: Joseph “Joey” and Leslie Colegrove of Rainbow City, AL; and Robert “Robbie” and Teresa Colegrove of Southside, AL.
Graveside service is will be held Friday, November 8th at 2PM at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lone Star Flight Museum or the charity of the donor’s choice.
