Joanna (Anna) Sharkey, mother of two and wife to Edward, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024.  Anna was born in Crete, Greece and was one of six children.  She traveled the world before meeting and marrying her husband Ed in Hawaii, where they would start their lives and family together.  Over the years, Ed’s work would take them to New York, the Bahamas and eventually Houston, Texas, where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Anna’s strength and ability to keep things in perspective, even during the darkest times, was one of her most treasured gifts, along with her beautiful smile, kind soul, contagious laugh, mischievous humor and sparking blue eyes.  Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Anna was proud of her Spartan roots and her beloved Greece and instilled that love in her children, grandchildren and anyone she had the opportunity to tell.  She loved music, the beach, dancing, cooking for friends and family and volunteered at countless Greek festivals.  She was full of boundless energy, love of life and pure grit; she was and will always be an inspiration – the epitome of grace and strength.

She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

While there are no words to describe the loss we feel, we are comforted to know she is with our heavenly father and those who entered his kingdom before her.
