Regina McIntyre

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Regina McIntyre, 68, of Texas City, on October 9th 2024. A caregiver both in heart and in profession, Regina lived a life of sacrifice and struggle in order to nurture those around her. She was beautiful, kind, and intense. She will be dearly missed.

Regina was born on 6/16/56 to Jose Mesquita and Leonina Costa Mesquita in Goiânia, Brazil. After immigrating to the USA in the 70’s with her sister Josie, Regina settled in New York City, where she modeled part-time and danced through the night at Studio 54.

Regina went on to marry Matthew John “Mac” McIntyre in New York City. Regina & Mac went on to have one daughter, Melissa. In 1985, they all moved to Houston as a family. While their marriage eventually ended, they remained good friends along with his family.

Years later, Regina married Joseph Taylor in Texas. Together they had one son, Jonathan and she became a stepmom to Joe’s existing children, Gabriel and Carrie Taylor. While Regina and Joe’s romantic relationship also came to an end, the two remained close friends after their separation, maintaining a strong connection as the years went by. Joe’s Aunt Janice also remained close.

Regina spent her days working tirelessly as a translator and caregiver, and she enjoyed spending much of her free time at church, where she was surrounded by those who loved her.

Everyone who remembers and loves Regina should celebrate her in their own way. Do something kind for someone – she would have liked that.

Regina is predeceased by her parents, and nephew Cristopher DiGiulio. She is survived by her daughter Melissa McIntyre and her son, Jonathan Taylor along with her siblings Eleuza Costa DiGiulio, Miria Neves Costa Aráujo, Lídia Neves Costa, Euvaldir Neves Costa and Joselene Costa Klingenberg. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children:  Robert Costa DiGiulio, Michelle Costa DiGiulio, Esmael Costa Araújo, Junior Samuel Costa Araújo, Lydhea Regina Costa, Maciel Biagi Danielle Costa, Maciel Prata Aline Meireles Costa, Iana Meireles Costa, Ian Meireles Costa, Pedro Ivo Meireles Costa, Sasha Costa, Thiago Costa, Gilberto Costa Camargos Junior and Natasha Costa Klingenberg.

Services will be held at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque on October 13th 2024 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. At 3:00pm a eulogy will be given. In lieu of flowers, if you feel inclined, the family would greatly appreciate any donations to cover expenses. Or please donate to NAMI.org, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
