Mary Megan Wier, age 69, passed away on September 30, 2024 in Webster, Texas.

Megan is survived by her husband, Larry T. Wier, Son: Gabriel Chapin (wife Justine) and daughter: Ashley Wier, Stepsons: Houston T. Wier (wife Veronica) and Austin J. Wier (wife Lynnea), Grandchildren: Logan, Leland and Linnea Chapin; Jaiden and Ayden Wier; Summerjane and Raelin Wier; and numerous family members and friends.

She worked as an administrator for Kansas City Power and Light from 1987 to 1998 and as a manager for Kohl’s Baybrook from 2002 to 2024. She had a passion for serving God, leading by Christ-like example and sharing her love with others in an obvious and personal way every single day.

Megan was born on April 5, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas but was given up for adoption and taken in and loved by Marilyn and Anthony Strick of Kansas City, Kansas. She lived most of her early and adult life in suburban Kansas City, and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High in 1973. Her early adulthood was beset by tragedy and adversity; first, the death of her mother after a long illness and then,  just as her own mother had done 19 years before, she put up a child for adoption, knowing it was what was best.  It was during this period that she became a born-again Christian; from that time forward her life was an example of unconditional love, kindness and forgiveness. She married in 1975 and two years later gave birth to a son, Gabriel. Although that marriage did not last, she persevered as a devoted, selfless single mother. It was during that time (1980) that her widowed father, Tony, married Lenora Wier, mother of Larry Wier of far away Houston, Texas.  Larry began visiting his mother with his sons for summer vacations after his own marriage failed in 1993. Each summer between 1993 and 1997 Larry and Megan grew closer until Larry recognized the angel that Megan was. They married on New Year’s Day, 1998. They had a child in June, 1999, and throughout her marriage with Larry she was both a loving mother to Ashley and a devoted and attentive stepmother to Houston and Austin. All of her family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances benefited by simple exposure to her.  She always exhibited robust energy, until recently succumbing to progressive symptoms from a severe concussion she sustained in 2017. Through all the adversity she faced, her faith never wavered nor did her certainty that this world was just a stepping stone to be with her Lord and Savior for all eternity. Even knowing that, her unexpected death on September 30, 2024 leaves a sorrowful hole in the lives of everyone who knew and loved her.
