Our beautiful mother, Janice Teresa Giammalva Akeroyd of Katy, Texas, daughter of Felix Joseph Giammalva and Geneva Blanche Canada & sister of Kathryn Otto was welcomed into the rest of her beautiful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the 30th of August in the year 2024. Janice loved her family and friends. She loved fitness and in her late fifties ran a 10k in Austin, Texas. When running and jogging were no longer an option, she went back to college and obtained an associate degree. She loved getting together with friends and hosting card parties and even planned and arranged trips for her senior neighbors. She loved to fish and deer hunt and spend time on the beach. She never shied away from a trip to the casino with family or friends.

Janice was preceded in her death by her children, Andrew Travis Otto, John David Otto, Judith Otto & Stephen Andrew Otto.

Janice leaves behind her daughters and son-in-laws, Kathleen Elizabeth Erickson & Daniel, Colleen Marie Adams & Danny, Susan Anne Pechacek & Otto Benjamin, and eleven grandchildren, Lauren, Eric, Brian, Jacquelyne, Gregory, Christine, Bradley, Kevin, Taylor, Ryan & Catherine. 2. * Janice and I met when we were both living at the Pinemont Apartments in Houston, Texas. We got together at her apartment to play penny ante poker with other friends who loved eating, playing cards, laughing and joking until our sides would hurt from all the antics around the table. We became great friends and moved to another new apartment complex when it came available.
Janice and I attended the same church each Sunday. She rode with me and enjoyed the praise and worship along with great messages from the pulpit. Her love for the Lord was evident in her life. She never gave up and always was full of life and love for others. She loved her children with her whole heart and wanted to please them with her life and the example she set for them.
Janice was my friend without question. I loved her and tried to be the best friend I could be. I know she is with her Jesus and is full of joy in Heaven.
