Norman Joseph Bergeron

Norman Joseph Bergeron, 77, of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday August 17, 2024.

He was born in Sanford, Maine on October 3, 1946, son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Croteau) Bergeron. He married Rita P. Tebbetts on January 21, 1967. He graduated from St. Ignatius Catholic High School in May 1964. He joined the Air Force on August 12, 1964 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan; Homestead AFB, Florida; Eglin AFB, Florida; England AFB, Louisiana; Holloman AFB New Mexico; and Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina. He spent his career ensuring flight simulators were properly maintained enabling pilots of different aircraft to receive the best training. He retired on September 30, 1984, as a Training Devices Superintendent.

He held several jobs after his military career. He used his electronics experience for a company that made pacemakers, spent some time as a big rig driver and finally as a middle school math teacher.

His passion for learning and teaching was never ending. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1982 and Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston, Clear Lake in 1988.  He could fix almost anything, worked on car engines, barber chair hydraulics and remodeling homes. If he didn’t know how, he could find someone to show him. He used his knowledge to teach his three girls to be strong independent women, to love life, try new things, and learn in everything they did. He supported them in each endeavor though some only lasted a summer or school semester.

He enjoyed woodworking, building cabinets, shelves, turning bowls and knickknacks. He poured over plans for baby cradles. Each of his girls received a wooden cradle he had made for his grandchildren.

His love for Rita was always in the forefront. It was common to see them holding hands. They were childhood sweethearts, together since he was 12 and she was 11.  At her passing, they had been married for 48 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Bergeron, brother George Bergeron, parents and second wife Monique LeMay.

He is survived by his sister Theresa Bergeron and his three daughters, Christine and husband Brian Sapp; Denise and husband Mark Savrick; and Michelle and husband David Horacefield. Grandchildren Alyssa Sapp and fiancé Jeff Siglinger; Anthony and wife Katy Sapp; Evan Gardner; Jill Gardner and fiancé Jackie Housewirth; Kaitlin Horacefield; Scott Horacefield; Connor Horacefield; Zachary and wife Marissa Savrick; Carson and wife Katy Savrick; and 5 great grandchildren. He had a great extended family including 2 sisters-in-laws, a brother-in-law, their spouses, many nephews and nieces and their children.

Norman will be buried with Rita at Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
