Barbara Jean Townsend

Barbara Jean Townsend, 91, of Pearland TX passed away on August 12th, 2024. She was born April 21st 1933 to John Russell and Alice Barbara Devereaux in Houston TX. Barbara was a resident of Pearland since 2006, a member of First United Methodist and a member of Shell Retirees.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents John Russell and Alice Barbara Devereaux; her husband of 66 ½ years Rhymond Allen Townsend; sons Stephen Earl Townsend Sr. and Michael Allen Townsend; and grandson Daren Nicholas Veal.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Carol Veal and Julie Renee Ray and Chuck; Sister Carol Ann Epps and Ben; her 6 grandchildren Stephen Earl Townsend Jr., William Michael Stephens, Jason Allen Townsend, Amber Lynn Denton, Rex King Haley, and Cristien Wesley Ray. Barbara was also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Barbara never met a stranger. She could talk to someone for a few minutes and then say she just made a new friend. She always made people feel special. Everyone loved her, especially children. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

The family will receive visitors at 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday August 21st 2024 at
Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E. Broadway St. Pearland, TX 77581. There will be a
funeral service at Crowder Funeral Home the following day on Thursday August 22nd
2024 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Reggie Clemons officiating. Burial will follow at
Forest Park Lawndale.
