Alex Christopher Baker was born in Nassau Bay (Houston), TX on February 13, 1992 to Jeff and Christine Baker, and passed away unexpectedly at home on August 12, 2024 in League City. Alex grew up in League City, attending Ferguson Elementary, League City Intermediate, then Clear Creek High School, where he was active all 4 years in the Wildcat Marching Band, playing alto saxophone then baritone saxophone. He graduated from CCHS in 2010. After graduation, he moved to San Marcos, TX to attend Texas State University; he returned to League City in 2019. Alex completed his Bachelor of Science in Anthropology degree from Texas State in August 2022.

Since January of 2023, Alex was employed at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) where he worked as a trainer and guest services representative in the Cockrell Butterfly Center, as well as the King Tut Exhibit, Dreyer Masterworks, and Sharks! exhibits. Alex enjoyed his work at the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences and appreciated his co-workers and interactions with staff and customers.  He spent time with friends, loved action movies, the Red-Hot Chili Peppers (his email has the bass player’s name in it), the Houston Astros, trying out new recipes, riding his e-bike, traveling and eating out with family. His last trip with family was to NYC for the week of the 4^th of July, and he attended an Astros game on Friday, August 2 with his mom and dad. He had a long illness, never or rarely complained and was prepared to go to work at HMNS on the morning he passed. Alex was polite to all, a friend to many, and was loved by his family.

Alex was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Jackie and E.R. (Pete) Peterson, his paternal grandparents Albert and Audrey Baker, uncles John Baker, Larry Loos, and Charles Vessel; aunts Karen Baker and Martha Dillon, and cousins Eric S. (Rick) Johnson, Kevin Baker and Ronald Baker.

He is survived by his parents, Christine and Jeff of League City, brother Andrew of Houston, brother Adam of Lubbock, aunts Mary Ann Vessel of Garland, TX and Sallie Loos of Cape Girardeau, MO; uncles Tom Baker of Cape Girardeau, MO and Abbie Baker of St. Louis, MO. Cousins include Carl, Michelle and Cailyn Vessel of Wylie, TX; Jerilyn Howell of Garland; Larry Johnson and Angie of Leander, TX; Jennifer Johnson of Ft. Worth; Liana and Glenn Loos-Austin of Madison, WI; Laura and Keith Whitworth of Bryant, AR; Stephanie and Ryan Ellinger of Scott City, MO; Michael and Melissa Baker, Matt Baker and many others, all in Texas and Missouri.
