Clarice Fore Blanks

CLARICE FORE BLANKS

July 9, 1942 – August 3, 2024

Clarice Blanks was born on July 9, 1942, in Port Lavaca, TX.  She was the third of five children born to Van Buren Fore and Marie Robinson Fore.  She was raised in Port Lavaca, graduated from Calhoun High School in Port Lavaca during the early years of desegregation, and then attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX.  Her strong connections to numerous Port Lavaca family members and friends endure.

Clarice is predeceased by her son, Lance Blanks, and husband, Sidney Blanks, Sr.  She is survived by her son, Sidney Blanks, Jr.; grandchildren, Courtney Blanks, Tatum Blanks, Riley Blanks Reed (Jack), and Bryn Blanks Lewis (Jake); great-grandchildren, Jordan Blanks, Ryan Blanks, Winter Blanks, and Izzy Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.  All were a source of much joy and inspiration.

Clarice’s professional career included positions as one of the initial ticketing agents at the launch of Southwest Airlines in 1971, cashier and loan officer at Fondren Southwest Bank, marketing representative for new vehicle add-ons and upgrades, and customer service representative at Norman Frede Chevrolet Clear Lake.  She volunteered her fellowship with residents of several senior living facilities in the Clear Lake area and campaigned at the local and state levels for the Democratic Party, along with participating in voter registration initiatives.

Clarice was an avid basketball and football fan and enjoyed cooking for and entertaining family and friends.  She is remembered for lovingly hosting annual holiday celebrations for many people.  Her zest for life and strong-willed spirit were Clarice’s signature traits.  She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to be in her presence.

  1. “Ms. Clarice would frequent our CHAMP Veteran and Community Social’ at Java Owl Coffee House in Nassua Bay on Thursday mornings when her schedule allowed. Her grace, elegance, kindness and love for all she encountered lit the room. The Bible says a city built on a hill cannot be hidden. The LIGHT within Ms. Clarice was not hidden and shined brightly, reverberating into all she encountered. Ms Clarice said she really enjoyed spending time with Veterans and First Responders at Java. We are a better group because Ms Clarice graced us with her LIGHT. On behalf of all CHAMP participants, ‘Rest in Power’ beautiful, graceful, charming, and kind…Ms. Clarice”

  2. Clarice’s presence at the Thursday morning coffee was truly blessing. Each Thursday morning when she arrived at the coffee house our group was always at the ready to greet her at the door with open arms. Clarice was a small framed person with a warrior’s heart. You so truly will be missed. CHAMP has lost a warrior, and God now has a regulator. Rest in God’s hands friend.♥️🙏🏾♥️
