Clifford Salisbury

Clifford Salisbury, 97, entered his eternal heavenly home on June 10, 2024 at his home with his cherished wife by his side. He was born in Galveston, Texas on December 18th, 1926. He was married on February 15, 1948 to Anna Catherine Thorn, and they enjoyed 76 wonderful years together.

Clifford proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and Allied Forces in World War II in Italy. He retired from the University of Texas Medical Branch after 42 years of service.

A dedicated and compassionate man, he loved his family very well. His gentle disposition and dedicated service to all those around him was impactful and  unmatched, and will be missed by all who knew him. His love for us and his servant’s heart was a perfect example of what a man, husband, and father should be. He was a pillar of his family, and we have and will continue to carry his example and the lessons he taught us with us throughout our lives.

He answered Jesus’ call for salvation at a Billy Graham crusade at the Astrodome, and was baptized on December 5, 1965 at Broadway Baptist Church in Galveston. He served there for many years until his family joined University Baptist Church. He was a faithful servant there as well, cutting the grass, ushering, and taking care of the many needs of the church. Clifford and Catherine moved to League City in 2008 where they joined Bay Area Church. They were active members of their Sunday School class until his health declined.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Antonia (Smahl) Salisbury; his brother, Alfred Salisbury Jr; his sister, Lily Salisbury and his brother-in-law, Robert Thorn.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Anna Catherine Salisbury; sister-in-law, Patricia Thorn; daughters, Susan Kovacevich (Paul) and Carol Coffman (Phillip); grandchildren, Kevin Kovacevich (Genny), Kimberly Kovacevich-Upchurch (Brian), John Kovacevich (Diana), Lindsay Waits (Marc), and Matthew Coffman (Gabrielle), as well as his great-grandchildren; Rachel Benjamin, Elissa Kovacevich, Lauren Kovacevich, Spencer Upchurch, Aric Waits, William Waits, and Anna Faith Waits, as well as many cherished nephews, cousins and other family members.

Pallbearers: Kevin Kovacevich, John Kovacevich, Matthew Coffman, Larry Thorn, Brian Upchurch, and Marc Waits

Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Kovacevich and Phillip Coffman

The family would like to thank Absolute Hospice, and all the wonderful nurses, with special thanks to Barbara for all her kind, constant and compassionate care.

We would also like to thank Jenny, Jill, Sunny, and Kim with Visiting Angels for all their love and such wonderfully thoughtful care.
