10/2/1945 – 5/23/2024
Orvil Orcino Bueno, Sr., age 78, passed away on May 23, 2024, in Houston, Texas, after courageously
battling a long illness. He was born in Cotabato, Philippines, to parents Demetrio Allado Bueno and
Anatalia Fronda Orcino. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcela; daughter, Celyne (Paul); sons, Orvil Jr.
“Jun” and Andrew (Holly); sister, Norma Casapao; brother, Villamor Bueno; grandson, Desmond; and
numerous family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Florida
Bueno, Aida Apostol, Lolita Bueno, Norma Bueno, Romeo Bueno, Sr., and Revelina Evangelio.
Curious, intelligent, and inventive, he excelled in his studies. Orvil received his education at University of

Engineering in 1969. In 1976, he obtained additional certification in Cadastral and Mineral Land
Surveying at University of Philippines.
Orvil developed a thriving career as a Geodetic Engineer and Surveyor and was a successful
entrepreneur with his company, Bueno Surveying & Realty in Davao City, Philippines. In 1985, he and his
devoted wife made the sacrifice to immigrate to Texas. He began a new career in the Houston area as a
Construction Surveyor and Field Engineer. He worked for multiple companies: Cadastral Surveying &
Mapping Corp, KCI Constructors Inc., H.B. Zachry Constructors Inc., J.D. Abram Constructors Inc., Austin
Industries, S&B Engineers and Constructors Inc., and Cajun Constructors Inc. His strong work ethic
earned him numerous accolades. He was well–respected and served as a mentor to many during his long
career.
Before Orvil’s illness, he enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives in the United States as well as in the
Philippines. He was blessed to participate in pilgrimages to the Holy Land in 2005 and to the Vatican,
Fatima, and Lourdes in 2011. At home, he derived pleasure from gardening, spending time outdoors,
and doing carpentry work. He loved crosswords, solitaire, and especially playing lotto and scratch–offs.
He cherished his time with his family and often expressed that his greatest contribution was his decision
to move to the United States to enhance the opportunities for his children. His quick smile and silly
jokes will be especially missed to all those who knew and loved him.
Our family wishes to express thanks to Orvil’s loving supporters, to the Baylor St. Luke’s LVAD team for
their excellent and compassionate care over the past 8 years, and most of all to God for his gracious gift
of life.
Visitation will be held on June 4, 2024, at 6–8 PM, with rosary/prayer at 6:30 PM at Crowder Funeral
