Elaine Haycraft passed away in her sleep on April 11, 2024 at the age of 91.  Born to Edward and Evelyn Hohenberger in Brooklyn, NY on April 16, 1932.  Elaine went to school in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Physical Education.  She continued with post-graduate education at the University of North Carolina where she received a Master of Physical Education degree.

‍Post-graduation, Elaine moved to Rockford, Illinois where she taught Physical Education on the college level at Rockford University, then transferred to Shorter University in Rome, Georgia and finally moved to Kentucky to teach at The University of Louisville where she met her husband, Logan Haycraft Jr., who preceded her in death in 2003.

Elaine married Logan in 1958 and they proceeded to have three children: Chris, Tom, and Julia.  After moving around for several years with Logan’s Navy career, Logan accepted a job with the Boeing Company in the Aerospace division.  This eventually led to their move to the Clear Lake area in 1967 where they raised their family and were active members of the Webster Presbyterian Church for many years.

‍Elaine’s passion was quilting.  She made many quilts for family members and friends and was a member of a few quilt guilds in the Clear Lake area.  She also loved to garden and grew beautiful azaleas in her garden at home.  Elaine was also a member of the choir at Webster Presbyterian Church.

‍‍Preceded in death by her husband Logan Haycraft Jr. and her grandson Logan Haycraft. Elaine’s legacy continues through the following family members: (son) Chris Haycraft and his wife Cynthia, (son) Tom Haycraft and his wife Nancy, (grandson) Joshua Haycraft and his wife Marcia and their daughter Tilly (2), (daughter) Julia Langston and husband Ken and their children Luke (19) and Grace (16), (brother) Edward Hohenberger and his children and families.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on June 1^st @ 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following at Webster Presbyterian Church in Webster, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association.
