James Whitney “Whit” Turner
James Whitney “Whit” Turner, of League City, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Webster, Texas at the age of 45.
Whit was born on August 10, 1978 in Houston, Texas to the late Zane Turner and Rhonda (Turner) Warren.
From childhood on, Whit had a loud and gregarious personality. He did everything big. He had an infectious smile and booming laugh. He loved people with everything he had – his wife, his daughters, his family, his friends, and his comrades in recovery. He even wore loud colorful prints to accentuate his personality.
Whit met Andrea Carlton in July, 2010, and they married in October 2011. With her daughter Jolie, whom Whit loved as his own, they made a family. They joyfully welcomed their daughter Vivienne the following year, and with a bursting heart, Whit formally adopted Jolie in 2014.
Whit was a successful businessman. He started working with his father-in-law at CCC Electric in 2012, and as a natural salesman, was instrumental in growing the company. In 2021 he started another company, TurnMec Controls, with his brother, Logan Turner, and friend, Spencer Wilson.
After years of struggle with alcohol, Whit found active recovery and healing in 2010. He surrendered to God and embraced the recovery culture of experience, strength, and hope. With that, he also found his deep passion, purpose, and calling in helping others recover from alcohol and addiction. Whit unashamedly turned his struggles into an asset. He helped countless men turn their lives around and saved numerous lives.
It must be said that for his entire life, Whit Turner was the BIGGEST Houston Astros fan! His enthusiasm was so contagious that it was impossible not to cheer with him. One of his favorite places was in his season ticket holder seats at Minute Maid Park. And two highlights of Whit’s life were his life changing First Date with Andrea to an Astros game, and the legendary Game 5 of the 2017 World Series he attended. His goal was to visit every MLB stadium rooting on the Astros. He made it to eleven stadiums, and his wife and kids will continue the tradition.
Whit was preceded in death by his dad, Zane Kale Turner, grandparents Kale and Myrhl Turner, Jim and Joyce Turner, and Dempsie and Pat Henley; father in law, Mike Carlton, aunts Jade Morris and Jerry Henley, and uncle Scott Henley.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea, and their daughters Jolie and Vivienne; mother Rhonda Warren and stepdad Jerry Warren; siblings Kala Bauer and husband Donnie, Logan Turner and wife Kelly, Justin Warren and wife Kate, Jade Warren, and Scott Warren and wife Jamie; sisters in law Jessica Short and Danielle Methvin; mother in law Sheree Carlton; nephews and nieces Wesley Bauer, Brendon Martinson, Tanner Warren, Kallie Warren, Parker Short, Lily Short, Ava Deese, Kyler Starr, and Zane Turner; cousin and honorary brother Kale Morris and wife Ashleigh, and an extraordinarily large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him the rest of their lives and continue his epic legacy of awesomeness.

You touched our family with such a commendable, quintessential friendship. Like family. I will miss your big generous heart, sweet smile, and your loving unique manner. Fly high, Whit, in that great baseball game in the sky.
That was so beautifully written, I have no words. So much I didn’t know about sweet Whit.

Rhonda, so sorry for your loss. I will not say I know how you feel. I will say that I know how I felt. We lost our oldest son 11 years ago. I pray for your family healing.
A very befitting tribute for one of the most genuinely compassionate fellas I’ve met in my long journey. Whit was a true asset, one of the true greats and I’m very sorry to hear of his passing.
See you on the other side my man!
I didn’t know Whit personally, however I felt like I knew him though, through his sister, Kala Bauer who shared about his struggles, his beaming smile, and his love for his family and others. A beautiful tribute to Whit and I know his passing is very difficult for his family as well as his friends. May each be comforted and strengthened by the Lord Jesus Christ. He only knows the need(s) of each.
The first I heard of Whit”a passing I immediately thought of all those in heaven to greet him. I remember fondly sitting in his office. After moving in with Rhonda and Jerry that I would always be a part of the family. Whit until we meet again in heaven. Absent from the body present with the Lord
Whit was one of a kind. I will always remember your smile and your laugh.
He was awesome classmate. I will miss him dearly. RIP Whit
I am heartbroken to hear about your loss. Whit was such an amazing person who always had a smile on his face that rubbed off on others. He always made you feel welcome. I send my most heartfelt condolences.
