Burdette (Dug) Harvey Dugdale
Burdette (Dug) Harvey Dugdale passed away going home to be with our Lord Sunday, March 31st, 2024.
He was born on March 16th, 1931, to Helen and Harvey Dugdale in Britton, South Dakota where he was raised with his brothers Keith and Gordon. They were raised in hard times with love and inspiration of work ethics and moral integrity. He met, courted, and married the love of his life Deloris, when they jumped into a taxicab together. Deloris also lived in a nearby town in his home state.
When his country called, Burdette joined the Air Force during the Korean War. His interest for engineering and electronics began during his service as a Bombing Systems technician, and his passion began when the bombers he serviced, changed over to electronics.
After his service, he returned to South Dakota State University, immediately changing his major to engineering where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
He and Deloris moved to Seattle Washington when he was hired by Boeing Aerospace. Unable to conceive children of their own, they adopted Greg in 1960 and Shelley in 1963, giving them the family they always dreamed of and an opportunity to provide a loving and caring home environment.
Burdette’s career with Boeing carried them to Huntsville, Alabama, and eventually settling in at Clear Lake, Texas, home of Mission Control in Houston as their permanent home and eventually the place of his retirement. The moderate temperatures and weather kept him here to pursue his other passion, golf. He loved spending time with his beloved Deloris and their cats where he shared the remainder of his 93 years of life with his family.
Burdette is survived by his daughter Shelley Dugdale, son, Greg Dugdale, daughter-in-law Pamela Dugdale, grandson Joshua Dugdale, granddaughters, Julie Raley, her husband Travis, and Christina Bussard, her husband Casey, and great-granddaughters, Ella Lynn Raley and Brynnlee Sky Bussard.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, April 12, 2024, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, located 14045 Space Center Blvd., Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of Burdette, may do so to the American Heart Association.
