Maureen Gladys Wilson
Maureen Gladys Wilson, 82, went home to Heaven on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Affectionately known as “MeMe” to her beloved family and friends, Maureen was born and raised in Galveston, Texas on June 23, 1941. She spent time in Bakersfield, California, as well as Huntsville, Texas City and La Marque, Texas, before settling in Kingwood, Texas with family.

She had a true gift with a needle and thread, crafting special occasion outfits, including hand-made wedding dresses, in her spare time. MeMe devoted her life to caring for her family and praising her Lord, and was instrumental in the raising of her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She spent her retirement years attending televised masses, praying the rosary and the Divine Mercy, working puzzles and searching for Big Foot. Her family misses her, but rejoices that she is home with her Savior.
MeMe is preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Wilson, brother John Wilson and wife Coy, and sister Irene Oakes and husband Glenn. She is survived by her brother William Wilson and wife Carolyn, nieces Raney Payne, Stephanie Ingle and husband David, Kimberly Davis and husband Jerry, and JoAnn Wilson; nephews Steven Oakes and wife Nettie, Derek Wilson and wife Dina, William Wilson, II and wife Elaine, and Shawn Oakes; great-nieces Morgan and Meredith Wilson, Jensen Castle, Clarissa and Holly Oakes, and Anorah and Marvel Wilson; and great-nephews Brandon and Dylan Ingle, Jerry Davis and Xander Wilson.
In her honor, there will be a rosary on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 9:00am at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with visitation to follow from 9:30am to 10:30 am and a service at 10:30 am. Committal will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
MeMe – I miss you so very much. It just doesn’t seem real that you’re not here to call out, “There’s my Kimmy!” I found a voicemail on my phone from you wishing me Happy Birthday last year, and it was surreal to hear your voice. I will treasure that voicemail for the rest of my life! In the meantime, rest easy, free of pain – we will meet again in Heaven someday. Tell those that went before that we miss and love all of them so much! Love to you in Heaven, my “Memo”…
Maureen, I’m so glad we were able to reconnect after 40 years. I will miss our telephone conversations and reminiscing about our younger days in Bakersfield, CA. You have been a very special person in my life and I’m thankful to have known you.
Rest in peace dear friend. Love you, Marilyn
Marilyn,
MeMe talked of you fondly and often. She always made sure we knew she needed to be home and available for your conversations. She looked forward to it each and every time. Please take comfort that you meant a great deal to her, too. Love and comfort to you. -Kim Davis (Maureen’s niece)
Meme, I love you and miss you so much! There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish I could call and talk to you just one more time:,( our entire family was so blessed that God chose you to be our MeMe & lt;3 until we meet again, (as I always said at end of our calls growing up, you don’t forget about me and I wont forget about you, you hang up first 🙂
