William Herbert Helm
William Herbert Helm, 37, known affectionately as Will, lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family. Born on January 19, 1987, in Webster, Texas, he was the cherished son of Herbert and Sharon Helm and Raul and Patty Castillo.
After graduating from Clear Lake High School in 2005, Will embarked on a journey of selflessness by joining the Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country. Following his military service, he ventured into various projects related to offshore work, rigs, and plants, which afforded him the opportunity to explore different parts of the world, from Brazil and Germany to Saudi Arabia and beyond.
As his children grew, Will’s priorities shifted, and he pursued a career path that allowed him to spend more time with his family. His determination led him to earn a Mathematics Degree from the University of Houston – Clear Lake in May 2021. He found fulfillment in his role as an Engineering Analyst at G&H Towing, where he cherished his job and the camaraderie of his colleagues.
Will’s greatest joy was his family. He shared 16 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carrie Hendricks-Helm, and together they raised their sons, Liam and John Helm, with love and devotion. Will’s love extended to his extended family, included his parents, Herbert and Sharon Helm and Raul and Patty Castillo; his sister and her husband, Tara and Preston Smith; their children, Cooper and Ethan Smith; his brother and his wife, Karl and Ann Helm; their children, Marvin and Avery Helm; his step-brother and his wife, Raul and Maggie Castillo; his step-sister and her children, Belinda Castillo and Siara and Manny; step-brothers, Mike, Jeremy, and Chad Ledbetter, and Matt Mcfatter; grandmother, Nelda Grimm, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous friends and colleagues who will all deeply miss his presence and hold dear the memories they shared.
In the face of pancreatic cancer, Will demonstrated remarkable resilience and courage, fighting until his last breath surrounded by his cherished wife and sons. A private service will be held with his family. In addition, another service will be held to honor Will’s life, with a Celebration of Life scheduled at the S. Mike Lacy American Legion Unit 554, where friends, family, and colleagues can gather to pay tribute to his memory and find solace in each other’s company. A later date and time will be provided.
Will’s legacy of love, courage, and dedication will forever endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who mourn his passing.
