Vicki Lynn Goebel, 77, of Santa Fe, Texas, died peacefully and embarked on her next spiritual adventure on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

Vicki was born Vicki Lynn Wennberg to Rose and Luther Wennberg on October 11, 1946, in Franklin, Louisiana. Soon after, the family moved to Dickinson, Texas, where she grew up and later graduated from Clear Creek High School.

In 1964, Vicki married her forever partner in life and love, William “Billy” Dale Goebel. Not long after beginning their life together, they welcomed two sons into the world: Shawn Lynn Goebel and William Dale Goebel Jr.

All her life, Vicki had one passion that trumped all the others: horses. Both Dale and Shawn were practically raised on horseback and competed in rodeo and show events all over the United States under Vicki’s guidance. She was a key member of the local 4-H Club, founded the Pinto Horse Association Amateur Program, was a founding member of the La Marque and Texas City Western Week through the Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the La Marque Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary Pumper Team.

Vicki was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dickinson, Texas. She had profound faith and a love for God that carried her through some of life’s most impossible challenges. She was also a member of the United States Junior Chamber and a major advocate for child abuse prevention and justice.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Rose Wennberg; sister Becky and brother-in-law Jack Derby Sr.; nephew Richard Hanson; as well as by many beloved furry companions.

Vicki is survived by her husband Billy; sons Shawn and Dale; sister Bonnie (De Lon) Hanson; granddaughters Harley Goebel, Ally Cheyenne (Tristan) Brackenridge, and Skylar Goebel; nieces Melinda (Ronnie) Cox, Christy Ann (Wayne) Simms, and Karen (Robbie) Rawson; nephews Jack (Beth) Derby Jr. and Quint Derby; great-grandchildren Delilah and Lucas Brackenridge; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vicki will be remembered by those lucky enough to have known her for her unwavering strength and the kindness and compassion that she extended to everyone around her. She will be missed deeply for her warm hugs, country cookin’, and the ability to talk about anything and everything with anyone in need of good company.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 9111 Emmett F. Lowry Expy, Texas City, Texas 77591 with a reception to follow.
