Miles Marsham Zaunbrecher
Miles Marsham Zaunbrecher, known affectionately as Dad, Wee Zee, Uncle Wee Zee, and speculatively, Gator Zaunbrecher, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in his League City home at the age of 49.
Born on August 7, 1974, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Frederick and Michele Zaunbrecher, Miles spent his formative years on Galveston Island. He was baptized at First Baptist Church in Galveston in 1995. Miles proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1995 to 1999, traveling the world while working with PATRIOT air defense systems. He served as Director of Annuities at American National Insurance Company in Galveston, where he served for 17 years, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and community.
Miles was known for his infectious laughter and sharp wit. A voracious reader and discerning movie critic, his insightful recommendations will be sorely missed. Above all, Miles cherished his children, his family, and his friends, always extending a helping hand whenever needed.
He leaves behind his legacy through his children, Bowen Alexander Zaunbrecher and Miley Michele Zaunbrecher, and is survived by his parents, Dr. Frederick and Michele Zaunbrecher. His memory lives on through his brother, Clark Chachere Zaunbrecher, and wife Natalie, along with their children Samuel, Stevie, Anna, and Joshua, as well as his brother Graham Dufilho Zaunbrecher and wife Kaitlyn, and their children Olivia and Aubrey. Numerous other beloved family members and friends, including his cherished “big-boned” pug Teddy, mourn his passing.
In accordance with his wishes, Miles will be cremated, and there will be no burial service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Galveston County Food Bank.
As we honor Miles’ memory, let us celebrate the profound impact he made on our lives and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind.
I met MIles just 4 months ago when I joined American National and he was the first person I worked with at the company. In this short time, Miles occupied a special place in my heart as it was great to work with him, to share ideas for the teams and how he was always there to help me find my way in a new company.
My heart goes to his family that I never met, but for whom my prayers go to the Lord to give you comfort and peace.
As for Miles, may his soul meet the glory of heaven in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Miles will be missed dearly by all his coworkers at American National.
I knew Miles from Galveston public schools. He was a champion of the underdog! He was a very kind, compassionate, and thoughtful.
