Norman Lee Kautz
Norman Lee Kautz, 93 of Texas City, Texas passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024 in Dickinson, Texas. Norman was born March 7, 1930 in Washington, Indiana, the son of Karl Wilhelm Kautz and Alma Emmons Kautz. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Norman retired as a mechanics for Sterling/Monsanto Chemical Company in Texas City. He also worked for Smith Douglas and Todd Shipyard. He was a resident of Texas City for sixty-eight years and member of New Life Fellowship Church. Norman was an avid fisherman and was a ship in a bottle builder.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Lee Kautz. Norman is survived by son and daughter-in-law David Lee Kautz and Robin of Clute, two daughters and a son-in-law Karen Kautz Romney of Chandler, AZ., Sharon Kautz Marrs and husband Gregory of Dickinson, TX.; sister-in-law Nancy Kautz of La Marque, TX.; six grandchildren Marianna Thomas, Sara Lehoski and husband Joe, Zachary Marrs, Kristi Kautz, Kayla Kautz and fiancé Michael Smyer, Alex Brown and wife Heather; two great grandchildren Molly Thomas and Jonathan Brown.
Visitation for Mr. Kautz will be Thursday 10:00 am February 8, 2024 and funeral service will be a 11:00 am in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Ave. La Marque, TX. Honorary Pallbearer will be Joe Lehoski.
Deepest Sympathies to the family of Norman “Boom Boom” Kautz. I worked many years with Norman who was my machinist leadman for the PM Crew. We did Elks Lodge together, doing parades in the early 90s. Norman was an avid writer scribing many letters Galveston Daily News Letter To The Editor. Norman was very good constructing ships inside mercury light bulbs, plus would hand you a book about doing knots by Norman Kautz. RIP Norman “Boom Boom” Kautz ! ! ! !
Our condolences to the family of Mr. Norman. He was a dearly loved brother at New Life Fellowship. He loved singing the old hymns in church. We were sad to hear about our dear friend Norman’s passing! We got to see him on January 1st and brought him ham, cabbage and black eyed peas! He ate like there was no tomorrow, lol. We met him around 15 years ago through my mother, Patty Hudlow, who had been a caregiver for his sister! We taught him how to play Farkle and we still laugh when the 6 & 4 comes up because of him! I have one of his beautiful ships in the mercury bulb passed down to me from my Mom. He has been wanting to leave this earth for awhile now and made no bones about telling you so. You finally got to go Home Mr. Norman!! Rest In Peace, sir!… until we meet again…
Well Norman, you finally making your journey. I will miss you. I will miss seeing your face when I bring you some Louisiana cuisine as you called it, especially my blueberry banana bread.
Rest in peace my friend. I never got thst teapot you promise me. But today, I will drink some mint tea in your honor. Missed visiting you and Rose.
