Richard (Tootie) Herman Kirchner, 87, resident of LaMarque, Texas, passed from this life, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in Texas City, Texas; He was born in Edwards County, Texas to proud parents, Richard R. Kirchner and Ann Kindreck Kirchner.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for six years as an Airman 1^st class.

Richard was a true cattleman having raised cattle his entire life on ranches in Edwards County as well as Panola County (37 years near Carthage, Texas).. He was one of the first breeders of Brangus cattle in the state. He attended Texas A&M and Texas A&I in Kingsville where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1961. He then earned his Master’s Degree at Southwest Texas State in 1967. Richard also taught school for six years in the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School  District.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ray Kirchner.

Richard leaves behind to cherish memory, his lifetime friend and caregiver, Shirley Keleman; also friend and caregiver, Mark Macaluso; as well as numerous friends and extended family.
