Sybil Marie Fancher
Sybil Marie Fancher was born in Webster, Texas on October 23, 1945, to James and Alice Barnhill of League City, Texas. She grew up and lived in League City until her death on November 6, 2023, shortly after entering hospice care. She passed peacefully surrounded with both immediate and extended family members.
Sybil was gentle and patient and found her greatest joys with her family that included her husband of almost 46 years, Rex Fancher, sons Troy Rikard, Gregory Rikard and wife Helen of Texas City. Sisters Mae Kidder and husband Art of Friendswood and Connie Tobin of League City. Stepchildren Duane Fancher and Robert Fancher both of Spokane, Washington. Michael Fancher and wife Nancy, Leanna Strong and Tina McCoy all of Texas. Extended family also includes 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.
Sybil cared for her cats and dogs but had an even stronger connection for the horses her family owned while she was growing up. She loved to go horseback riding with her friends when League City was still a small town. She also won several ribbons for her skills in riding.
While she lived most of her whole life in League City she and her husband traveled extensively after their retirement. She was a fabulous cook and through her constant engagement with food preparation and learning more about cooking from the shows on television she met new people through common interests. She was always generous and shared food and recipes with lots of people. Her meals prepared with joy and delight always but always filled far more than physical hunger.
Throughout her life she was kind and caring to family, friends, and all others she met. Her kindness, joy and compassion will always live in our hearts and memories.
