Alice Marie Christ Hoke Johnson
Alice Marie Christ Hoke Johnson, age 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2024. Alice was born on October 3, 1929 to Rudolph Thomas Christ and Malinda Kellerman Christ in Coryell County, Texas.
The family moved to Dickinson, TX, then to League City when Alice was about 4 years old. She remained in League City for the remainder of her life. Alice attended League City Elementary and High School and graduated in 1947 as valedictorian of her class. Two months after graduation she married Lee Hardy Hoke Sr. from Dickinson. From this marriage, three children were born. After 18 years and 8 months of marriage, Lee died of a massive heart attack on April 6, 1966. Two years later, Alice met and married Jack Loy Johnson from Houston. They were married almost 49 years at the time of his death on January 8, 2017. With this marriage, she gained two bonus children. Along with being a mother and wife, Alice worked outside the home. She was employed by the City of League City, two local banks and the State of Texas. Alice owned and operated Quality Printing and worked in her son’s business until she decided to retire at the age of 70.
Alice was a faithful member of Lighthouse Fellowship Church. She was a past matron of League City Chapter #621, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Friendswood Chapter #1131. Alice loved her family and friends so very much. She enjoyed visiting with them, going places with them, serving coffee every Sunday afternoon, while enjoying Dianne’s homemade cookies and playing dominoes on Friday nights. The greatest time of the year for Alice was Christmas. Every year she hosted a gathering in her home for the whole family. It was a houseful and she loved it.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, her sister Ima Joachimi, son Lee Hardy Hoke Jr, bonus son David Loy Johnson, great-grandson Austin Hoke and her two husbands, Lee and Jack.
Alice is survived by her children, Thomas C Hoke (Kathy), Dianne G Fowler (Terry), and Jacque L Miller (Michael). She is also survived by her sister Joann Benke (Dan), along with loving in-laws, Johnny and Joan Johnson and Jerry and Phyllis Johnson. Alice had 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In her honor there will be a visitation 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, with funeral services 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson. Interment follows at Forest park East Cemetery, Webster.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lighthouse Fellowship Food Pantry at 925 3rd Street, League City, TX 77573.

You will be missed by many
She was a loving and personal woman, who loved her family . You always knew when Christmas was going to happen she was always talking about planning the celebration. I will miss her sitting by me in church and holding my hand through service. She will truly be missed. Love you Alice.
Tom, Kathy and family, I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a great woman of character, never shy about the Gospel of Christ, and she brought love and diligence to everything she did in life. I’m sure she received a tremendous welcome when she saw her Savior and was reunited with her loved ones. League City has lost a shining light, a loving heart, and a devoted matriarch. I’m praying for you all.
Our thoughts and prayers for this wonderful family. May God comfort you during this difficult time.
Love,
Lynn and Charlette Brown
Dianne, Tommy, and Kathy
