Elma Lena Walston Hagemeier was born July 23, 1941 in Beaumont, TX, and grew up in Saratoga, TX. Our beloved joined heaven at 82 years old in Lake Jackson, TX, where she has resided since 1968.She is preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Christeen Walston, as well as her brothers Billy Wayne and Harry Lee Walston. Elma is survived by her children: Randy “Bubba”, Renee’(Stephanie),and Clint (Leslie); grandchildren: Khristin, Rachael (Cory), Hailey, Connor(Ariana), Allyson, Cody, Carson, and Cameron; great grandchildren: Shyenne, Dustin, Logan, Cayzlie, and Cooper. Also by multiple nephews, numerous cousins and extended family.

Elma was very adventurous and active growing up in Saratoga. Being musically gifted, she played the clarinet, drums and xylophone since she was in the 5th grade, and sang in the school and church choirs. She was also the pianist at West End Baptist Church. She was a very bright, scholarly young woman, being the Valedictorian of her class at Saratoga High School. She was a twirler, Drum Major, and Homecoming queen. She was an avid hunter with her Dad, (holds the record for the largest Buck taken at his Deer camp), fished, sewed and cooked with her mother. She loved crafts, ceramic painting, embroidery, sewing, crochet, nail art, and collecting Dolphins. All the while still finding time to spend with her horse …Treachery!!!

Being a young mother, she followed her parents to Angleton, Texas, where she continued her education in the business world. Upon moving to Lake Jackson, Elma became a businesswoman, she was a Co-Owner of KAT Hairport Beauty Salon, Lena’s 3 Bridge Saloon with her daughter, and The Branch Office. She was a Webelos Cub Scout Den mother, an inaugural Charter member of the Lake Jackson Citizens Police Academy, Brazoria County Fair Association, and a Brazoswood Band Booster Club Parent. She could be found watching her children march in the band, or in the bleachers watching her daughter play softball around the country. Once on a softball trip in California, she was found cutting the girls’ hair on the balcony of the hotel in between games! Elma continued her love for music, whether playing, dancing or singing. She had a beautiful voice, often being compared to Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion. She would get requests to sing at her establishments, gatherings, parties or at Karaoke, while her patrons would place “tip jars” beside her encouraging her to sing more! Her most infamous request was Celine’s hit, “The Power of Love”. Elma loved to highlight her road trips with traditional stops to get her DQ Blizzard, known to make multiple stops on the same trip! She could be found glued to Monday Night RAW and Friday Night Smackdown with a big bowl of chocolate ice cream with her grandson, Cody, by her side. Being a music lover, she enjoyed watching The Voice, American Idol, and Dancing With the Stars. She was such a critic, she could usually pick the winner from the early beginning of each season. She had a very sassy, matter of fact attitude, covered by a wonderful sense of humor that radiated in any room she was present. Often lighting up the conferences and conventions she attended with her Hairport crew! She knew how to make your stomach hurt by laughing so much.
