JOAN DOROTHY BENTLEY, 91, of Pearland, Texas passed away December 8, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 28, 1932 in the Village of Valley Stream, Long Island, New York to parents; William, and Grace Field Borman.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, William R. Bentley, brother William Borman and a son, John Bentley

She is survived by her children; Lori Gutheinz and husband Joseph, Mary Grow and husband Thomas, Theresa Gomez and husband Robert, Stephen Bentley and wife Moira, Joseph Bentley and wife Nga, and Anthony Bentley and wife Julia, sister; Irene Waas and her loyal dog Hope her best friend. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Joan was a devoted mother to her children, and a proud military wife. She resided in Pearland for the past 10 years. Her love extended to the sick, dying, and homeless and expectant mothers through her many ministries including; the Gabriel Project, Our Daily Bread, EWTN, Houston Methodist Clearlake Hospital and her own “Backpack” Ministry for people living on the street.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Gutheinz, David Gutheinz, Joseph Gutheinz, William Gutheinz, Matthew Bentley, Israel Gomez, Raphael Gomez, and Jessie Gomez

Honorary Pallbearers: Anthony Bentley, James Gutheinz, Michael Gutheinz and Daniel Cordes

Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. prior to a Funeral Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 P.M. Friday December 15, 2023 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church located at 2209 Old Alvin Road Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father Jim Courville officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
