Jeffery Royal Turner
Jeffery Royal Turner, known to his loved ones as Jeff, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 64. Born on March 10, 1959, in Iowa City, Iowa, Jeff was a devoted son, brother, father, husband, and friend.
Jeff attended and graduated from Louisiana State University, where one of his greatest adventures began. He met his beloved wife, Beth, maybe not under the most romantic circumstances. What began as a normal afternoon for Beth was a mischievous act for Jeff. His fraternity required you to find a random girl on campus, pick her up and throw her in the mud. As you can infer, the rest is history. The two soon were married, picked up their bags and headed from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to their now home residence in Houston, Texas. After a few wonderful single years together, Beth & Jeff embarked on their greatest adventure. The two showed up to their first ultrasound to find out that they had received a two for one deal, twins. Obviously shocked but thrilled, Jeff may or may not have passed out briefly. His fear quickly grew into excitement as he was convinced, he would have not one but two more LSU Tiger graduates one day…GIG’EM. Jeff was an extremely hard worker and respectable man with dreams of always owning his own company. Soon he bought and owned Bay Area Printing, working there for over 30 years. Throughout his adult life you could find him coaching every YMCA team his kids joined. The first being the “cone heads,” which he then placed an orange cone on his head and convinced all the kids it was hilarious and that would be the team’s name. If he wasn’t at work, you would also find him on the weekends with cigar in hand, beer in the other yelling at the LSU football game. As his family was all secretly praying that LSU would win the game for their own sake… Jeff was a devoted son, brother, father, husband, soon to be grandpa and friend. Like an onion, with peeling back multiple layers of his hard exterior and dry sense of humor, you would find the most compassionate, big-hearted soul. It was a true blessing to be able to truly know Jeff for who he was. Always always humble, frequently doing and serving others behind closed doors. He loved his family and friends fiercely, spending his whole life making sure they were always going to be taken care of. He will be dearly missed by all. As all his friends say, he was truly “one of a kind,” and we are so thankful to have known Jeff and be able to be loved by him. Our angel is now with Jesus, making Heaven more crowded.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Beth Turner, his daughter Kelly Turner Stevenson, his son Bradley Turner, daughter-in-law Paris Jones Turner currently with his future grandchild, and his son-in-law Cole Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his father, Royal Turner, his mother, Joie Williamson Turner, and his brother, Lee Turner.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 1st at 11AM at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 3131 El Dorado Blvd. Houston, TX 77059, to honor Jeff’s life. Following the Mass, a Committal (Graveside) Service will take place at Seabrook Cemetery, located at 615 Pine Gully Rd, Seabrook, TX 77586.
Beth, I just saw this. Ronny and I are so very, very sorry to hear about this. Please pass my condolences on to the rest of the family, and know that we send you a big hug and prayers.
