Barbara (Bobbie) Melton Gonzales
Barbara (Bobbie) Melton Gonzales, a resident of La Porte and formerly a resident of Dickinson, went to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She was born in Galena, Kansas on May 25th, 1940, to parents who preceded her in death, William Eldon and Hazel Louise (Cooper) Melton.
Bobbie worked all of her life but spent many years working for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in League City. After the death of her beloved husband, Pat, she retired to spend more time with her family.
Bobbie leaves behind to cherish her memory daughters Darlene Dobos (Paul), Patti Freudenberg (Rodney), Peggy Semmler, and Cindy Morse (Wade), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as lifelong friends Verna Lawrence, Sherrill Sunday, and Pat Chase. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat, and grandson, Justin Wade Morse.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Safe Project to provide information on overdose awareness in honor of her grandson.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 14th, at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson at 4pm, with services scheduled at 5pm. A reception will follow at the home of Cindy & Wade Morse in Friendswood.

God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Barbra is in His presence! Hallelujah!

So sorry for your loss. Most of you don’t know me, but Bobbie’s dad was my half brother. I only met him a couple of times, and I only met Bobbie once, at the reunion in Galena Kansas. My prayers go out to the family. Just know that now, she will rest in peace in God’s loving care
I am so very sorry for the passing of your Mom. Know that I had been praying for her, that our Lord would take her pain and that He did, replacing it with unimaginable joy. Darlene, Patti, Peggy and Cindy, your Mom will always be Mrs. Gonzales to me. I smile remembering her laugh, camping in Huntsville with y’all, summers playing way past dark, so many memories being neighbors for 10 years. Praying that very, very soon, we are all reunited with those we love. Until then, God’s peace be with you and your families.
